Arts and Cultural Engagement
The Cultural Engagement Council is a chancellor-appointed committee representing the significant arts and cultural institutions of the Urbana-Champaign campus of the University of Illinois.
Mission Statement
The Cultural Engagement Council (CEC) exists to foster collaborations with campus and community to raise awareness of, to enhance, and to preserve the arts and cultural assets of the UIUC campus to nurture a creative environment on campus and in the community to benefit the public good.
CEC Member Institutions
Allerton Park and Conference Center
Donated to the University of Illinois in 1946, this 1,500 acre former private estate is used by students, faculty, and community members as a conservation area devoted to education, research, and recreation.
College of Fine and Applied Arts
FAA faculty and students engage in arts and academic enterprises that contribute to the common good, drawing on professional expertise which addresses real-world concerns or interests.
Visitors to Japan House return again and again to acquire new knowledge and life enrichment, and to seek internal peace and help promote peace and understanding throughout the world.
Through its many exhibitions, educational programs and outreach activities, the Museum functions as a center of aesthetic enjoyment and intellectual inquiry.
Krannert Center for the Performing Arts
With a mission to nurture excellence and innovation in the performing arts through presentation, education, research and public engagement, KCPA is internationally respected for its potent blending of classroom, laboratory and public square.
Caring for more than 46,000 artifacts covering six continents and one million years of human cultural history, the Spurlock Museum offers its collections to visitors, scholars, curators and educators.
WILL TV and Radio serves the public good by presenting entertaining and educational programming that aims to enrich lives, preserve the past, and inform the future.
